Built between September 1997 and April 1999, this
project came about as a result of never seeing a built up model of a '67 GTO. Basing this
subject on the poor quality MPC GTO promo style kit proved to be quite a
challenge. It was planned out to be styled in such a way that would evoke a
sense of the car's aggressive character.
Major modifications include a shaved and channeled body, operative
deck lid, exterior and interior beveled door handles, hollowed and
reconstructed front fascia, sectioned interior converted to two seat
configuration, dashboard smoothed and ventilated, fully upholstered
interior and trunk, frame rails separated from chassis floorpan,
scratchbuilt 4-link rear suspension, integrated Corvette front suspension,
and a multitude of scratchbuilt components throughout. Although many
components such as small braces and reinforcement pins are not visible,
this model is composed of 590 kit, scratchbuilt, and aftermarket items.
The model is finished with House of Kolor Cortez Blue Pearl fogged
over Orion Silver with just a hint of Kandy Purple. This theme carries
over to the chassis and floorpan as well. To eliminate all visible flaws
from view both exterior and interior surfaces of the body are painted and
polished. Deep Lilac Pearl engine and suspension components accent this
combination as does the custom mixed Silver Grey interior.
